HTePL Playground Proposal
January, 2015
In the fall of 2015, a new High Tech Elementary school will be opening in Point Loma. 5th graders will learn about playground equipment and design through site visits, reading and online research and create their own proposals to present to Anne Worrall, the director of the new school. |
City Parklet ProposalMarch, 2015
5th graders will search for an area where their new playground design skills can be put to use. By looking at maps of natural and recreational areas, students will select possible sites for a parklet, and in small teams find out who can give them permission to build a parklet. Students will present their idea to those officials, demonstrating the need in the community and persuading the officials of their abilities and expertise. |
HTe Parklet PrototypeMarch, 2015
In order to prepare for building a public parklet, students will first design and build a parklet for the empty space by our school garden. Individual students will select which element of the parklet to develop, and can work together in small groups to create their element. They will get feedback from test groups from our campus to revise their design. They can invite art students from the elementary, middle and high schools to create permanent pieces to be included in the final design. Students will also receive feedback from the audience at exhibition. |
Community ParkletsJune, 2015
Students will design and build parklets out in the community once their proposals are accepted. These parklets will need to be safe, beautiful and easily maintained. Students will organize the final celebration and unveiling of their parklet to the community. |
